Are you from the midwest or something? The abundance of French Chards match the menu - Creole/ bistro style food. It is sometimes lighter fare than a brennan restaurant (not drowning in butter or cream) but I have always left very satisfied. As a vegetarian, there is always an awesome special for me too! you also can request not to sit at the banquett. the banquet is a new orleans tradition for those who enjoy the social aspect. there are plenty of normal tables spaced w/ plenty of room between them. Try again and don't order Sea Bass if you don't like it.- Is follow up to post by tshaff ...
Herbsaint was very disappointing. We were seated in a bench with 10 inches between diners-absolutely no personal space or elbow room. The wine list was very disappointing-they offered several french chardonnay selections and only 1 Napa selection-which we prefer. The fish special was sea bass-which I sent back. No respectable seafood market or even grocery store in Louisiana would have even sold a piece of fish with that poor quality. It was nothing but skin and blood lines, no white fish was to be found in the $24 entree that was 3x3 inches in size. The salad was edible, but similar to the bag salads you can buy at any Winn Dixie. The service was good, attentive and apologetic. That was the only positive of the entire meal. For my $100, my partner and I left hungry and wondering how this restaurant is surviving-I suppose having a recognizable chef is all it takes. The Brennan and Besh restaurants do not have anything to worry about-Herbsaint will have few if any return customers. -- 12/1/2003 8:08:02 AM
